DebtData publishes statistical and research information about debt. The site is intended for general informational and research purposes and should not be used as a substitute for advice based on a person’s individual financial or legal circumstances.

Not Financial Advice

DebtData does not recommend whether a person should borrow, repay early, refinance, consolidate, select a repayment plan, pursue forgiveness, invest, or make another financial decision. National averages and historical outcomes cannot determine what is appropriate for an individual borrower.

Not a Lender or Servicer

DebtData is not a lender, loan servicer, debt collector, credit bureau, school, government agency, or debt-relief provider. The site cannot access or change an individual loan account, payment status, credit file, repayment plan, or forgiveness application.

Not Legal or Tax Advice

Descriptions of laws, regulations, repayment programs, tax consequences, or government policies are general information. Rules can change and can apply differently depending on facts that are not captured in a statistical report.

Data Limitations

Debt statistics depend on the source. Federal administrative data, consumer-credit estimates, surveys, graduating-cohort studies, and private-loan research can produce different figures because they measure different populations and periods.

Some values are preliminary, estimated, rounded, modeled, or calculated from source data. These characteristics are disclosed when they materially affect interpretation.

External Sources

DebtData relies on third-party public datasets and research publications. Those sources can revise, replace, move, or remove material without notice. DebtData does not control the accuracy or availability of external systems.

No Guarantee of Outcomes

Historical averages, repayment rates, default rates, earnings data, and other population statistics do not guarantee a particular outcome for any borrower, graduate, school, state, or household.
